From group chat chaos to “okay, let’s go” in three steps. A few more if you want to nerd out.
the basics
You don’t need an account for any of this. Anonymous polls work fully.
1. Start a poll
Open the app. Add your question. Drop in up to 20 options. If you know roughly how many friends will vote, set the expected voter count and bop closes the poll automatically when everyone’s in.
2. Share the link
Copy the link. Drop it in the group chat, the Discord, the family WhatsApp. Voters click, enter a name, and score every option from −3 to +3 (other voting modes are available).
3. BOP picks
Once everyone’s voted (or your expected voter count is hit, or you close it manually), BOP reveals the winner. Highest total wins.
how voting works
the default: scoring (−3 to +3)
Every voter scores every option from −3 (absolutely not) to +3 (yes, immediately). Highest total wins.
Why this scale?
The −3 to +3 scale gives you seven values including zero, for genuine indifference. The negative numbers do the heavy lifting: they let you actually say “absolutely not” without being passive-aggressive. And because every voter scores every option, the scores compare like-for-like.
When to use it?
Most of the time. Best with ten options or fewer, when everyone can hold the full list in their head.
the alternative: pairwise comparison
Every voter compares all options in match-ups with two options at a time.
Why this mode?
For when scoring twenty things sounds like a chore. Two options enter, one option leaves. Voters pick a winner from each matchup, and BOP counts who won the most duels using the Copeland method. (Yes, that’s a real thing. Political scientists use it for actual elections. We just put it in your group chat.)
When to use it?
When ranking everything at once would melt brains.

custom lists
For the polls your group runs on rotation: the board game shelf, the takeaway list, the watchlist of films you keep meaning to get to. A Custom List is a reusable set of options. Each option can have a name, a description, a thumbnail (paste a URL or upload a file up to 5MB, JPG/PNG/WebP), and a link.
